Don’t Settle in This Season

ENCOURAGE
Affirmation: "I will keep in step with the Spirit." (Galatians 5:25)
As we're days away from entering the New Year, I want to celebrate how far God has brought you and encourage you to stay steadfast in your devotional life. For many, this time of year is a time for family, celebration, and goal setting for the highly anticipated "fresh start" that a new year can bring. These are all great things, but when they begin to push God out of your day, they become competition with Him.
Whether it's the busyness of the holiday hustle, or the calmness of finally having a break, it is easy to slip into a coma of comfort and forfeit our time with the Lord. Whether you celebrate the holidays or not, are on a break or not, or are planning for the new year or not, make a commitment in your heart to never settle for putting God second in your life. He deserves first place at all times and in every season of life.
If you are in a season of life where things are ceaselessly busy, create non-negotiable time blocks to spend with God. We must remember that where we spend our time is where we spend our life. If 95% of your day is going towards the things of this world that will pass away, and only 5% of your time is going to deepening your relationship with God, the harsh reality is that you're living more for carnal cares than walking in the spirit. Don't feel bad, just course-correct and know that your life will not fall apart. I promise you that everything else can wait (Read Matthew 6:33).
If you are in a space of relaxing and recouping, consider using some of your extra free time to go deeper in the things of God. Perhaps spend some of your time studying the scriptures, praying, fasting, or fellowshipping with other believers. We must remember that even though we may clock out of our jobs, hobbies, relationships, etc to recoup, we don't ever clock out of the Kingdom. You are a spirit being, who has a soul, that lives in a body. Your spiritual life should always be active, even when our material or physical life is less active (Read Galatians 5:25).
God bless you and don't settle in this season!
